AN OVERTURNED car caused congestion near to the town centre.
A man suffered ‘potentially serious injuries’ after his vehicle turned onto its side at the junction of Farrell Street and Church Street at around 3.30pm this afternoon, Friday.
The man was cut out of his car by Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and put into the care of paramedics.
It is believed no other car was involved in the incident.
Cheshire Police remained on the scene until the vehicle was recovered.
Church Street was partially closed after the incident, with congestion reported onto Manchester Road, Mersey Street, Dial Street and Egerton Street.
The road has now reopened and congestion has cleared.
