Ego is ditching plastic straw
POPULAR Stockton Heath restaurant, Ego, has announced it will no longer be serving straws in drinks in a bid to go plastic free.
The Mediterranean chain is backing the #StrawsSuck campaign to combat the effects plastic is having on the environment, by implementing plans across all of its branches.
This means all straws, stirrers, plastic cups and lids on children's drinks will now cease to be served.
Straws are said to rank in the top 10 for marine debris with more than 500 million straws being produced every day - to only be used for a few minutes.
