WARRINGTON Wolves have been praised in Parliament for their part in the country’s first physical disability rugby league game.
The Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation team faced off with a Leeds Rhinos side in front of around 1,000 spectators at Victoria Park on Sunday, February 4.
Wire legend Toa Kohe-Love and former England international fullback Shaun Briscoe lined up alongside comedian Adam Hills, presenter of Channel 4’s the Last Leg, for Warrington while his colleague Alex Brooker featured for Leeds.
Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid and Leeds North West MP Alex Sobel tabled a motion in the House of Commons congratulating the two teams in the All-Party Parliamentary Rugby League Group.
Mr Rashid said: “Physical disability rugby league is a fantastic version of the game, and I congratulation the Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation, the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and all involved in establishing the concept in the UK.
“I hope that we will see other clubs emerge to ensure that more people living with disabilities across the UK can play rugby league.”
