EX-pupils and staff from Ravenbank Primary School in Lymm have been returning to class for a special Golden Jubilee tour.

The school, which opened its doors in 1968, offered people the chance to come and see the school at work - 50 years on.

Tours were ran across three days, from February 7 to 9, and were led by current pupils from the school, dressed in authentic 1960s outfits.

Attendees were encouraged to reminisce on their school day memories, photographs and artefacts to celebrate the milestone.

Kim Smith was eight when the school opened in 1968, and was one of the first children to attend.

She previously attended Lymm County Primary School, which is now the site of the Lymm Village Hall.

Taking a tour on Wednesday morning, Kim and her mother were shown around by pupils Charlotte and Bee.

She said: "The school is treble the size I remember it being.

"The tour was supposed to last around 45 minutes but we were there for 2 hours - I have never felt so emotional before.

"I told the children they should think about doing a time capsule for when they return in 50 years.

"If my 8-year-old self had known I'd be back here in 50 years time, I would have made one and put clothes, parts of our school uniform and Beatles music in there.

"I would like to say thank you to the school for letting us come back as it has ignited friendships again".

The school gave each attendee a keepsake mug and keyring as a momento of the day.

Ravenbank Primary School will be holding more celebration events across 2018 to commemorate their 50th anniversary.
