THE life of a Warrington teenager has been highlighted in a Channel 5 documentary called ‘30 Inches Tall and Turning 18: Extraordinary People’.

The programme, which aired yesterday, Monday, tells the story of former Great Sankey High School pupil, Georgia Rankin, over 12 months.

Georgia, who suffers from the rare condition skeletal dysplasia is 2ft 7ins tall.

The documentary followed Georgia from her 18th to her 19th birthday, including a trip to America to meet a medical expert in dwarfism to get her condition diagnosed.

She has a popular YouTube channel ‘MakeupJunkieG’ where she showcases her make-up skills.

But she wanted to gain a formal qualification in the business and went to a film and television make-up artist from Glazebury for help.

Mum-of-one Melanie Doyle knew she would be able to help Georgia achieve her dreams.

Warrington Guardian:

Melanie said: “A lot of colleges do not serve Georgia’s needs but I knew my studio had lift access and that it was her dream to become qualified.”

Georgia had to pass exams and practical tests to become a qualified make-up artist and spent 10 weeks in total with Melanie at her academy.

Melanie added: “Georgia had never been on a college trip, so I took her to the MAC shop in Liverpool for a lesson and that was a really good experience for her.”

Georgia is now setting herself up as a freelance make-up artist in the Warrington area.

Melanie, 40, meanwhile beat six other women in her category to win the prize at the Eva Women’s Business Awards.

Speaking about her award, Melanie added: “I’m over the moon to be named Training Academy of the Year and I have been asked to do a 20-minute inspirational talk for International Women’s Day about how I set up my business and have successfully run it for the past three years by myself.

“I have got some of my students on some amazing TV and film projects as well as becoming a trustee for the charity Key Changes.”

Melanie works closely with charities, offering a variety of courses at the MelVicMakeup Academy, including new specialist training in wig making.

This new course supports a young deaf girl for the charity New Leaf to help kickstart a career in wig making.

Melanie has also recently helped train an 11-year-old vlogger from Thailand called Pare Sanunrat.

Pare’s parents flew their daughter to the UK for a one-week lesson with Melanie in Warrington where she gained her make-up qualification.

The talented youngster is set to work at this year’s London Fashion Week as a make-up artists.
