A FORMER care home in Bewsey could be turned into supported living apartments.

Bewsey House on Bewsey Road will be converted into 16 apartments if planning permission is given by Warrington Borough Council.

Comprising of 15 one-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom flat, the supported living scheme also includes a single storey extension to the north side of the building.

The three-storey building has been vacant since the care home closed in 2016, but two full-time jobs could be created if plans for the 0.4 hectare site are given the green light.

In its application for a change of use for Bewsey House, developer Mersten Ltd said: “There is a clear requirement for supported living within the area.

“The proposed apartments will provide independent accommodation allowing privacy for the residents as well as external communal amenity space to encourage social interaction.

“The extensions have been designed to complement the architectural form and style of the existing building to sit within landscaped gardens to the curtilage of the site which it is hoped will provide new life to the building and a welcome improvement to the local area.”
