I WAS delighted to read that the council’s experiment to charge for

parking in South Warrington had been such a success and that a net

profit of £65,000 had been generated (Warrington Guardian, January

11).

While in the overall scheme of things this is a drop in the ocean compared to the council’s total budget, in the words of a famous

supermarket ‘Every little helps’.

No doubt having seen the benefit of this trial, the council will now

roll out car parking charges throughout the north of the town too.

Don’t hold your breath.

YOUR recent article regarding the parking profit generated in Stockton Heath is interesting.

When is Warrington Borough Council going to spend some of its new-found profit on repairing the Forge Car Park?

The car park surface is a disgrace.

Oh I forgot! The Forge is located in South Warrington.

READING the article on the money made by charging for parking, chiefly in Stockton Heath and Lymm.

I wonder if the council is thinking of perhaps using some of that profit

to help businesses in those two villages?

Some help with business rates or investment in extra services (say a

public toilet for either) would be handy.

It is all very well using areas as a cash cow, but perhaps it would also

be nice to give something back.
