RESIDENTS in Warrington needing their green waste recycled will have to pay an extra £1 for the service this year.

A charge was introduced for the bin collection for the first time in 2017 and 39,552 licences were issued across the borough.

Now they are available again.

Cllr Judith Guthrie, executive board member for the environment, said: “Our collection service was very popular last year and helped us to recycle 9,500 tonnes of garden waste.

"We hope that residents will choose to use our service again in 2018.”

For 2018 the licences will now be £31 online or £34 if bought at Contact Warrington or over the phone.

Residents will need a new licence when collections resume in March. The service runs fortnightly until November.

You can pay for more than one green bin if you need to. You can also share a bin with neighbour(s) if you don’t produce much garden waste. You can also compost your waste or take it to our community recycling centres if you prefer.
