FIREFIGHTERS were called to Asda Westbrook this morning following reports of a blaze involving a United Utilities van.

It is understood the emergency services were deployed to the car park off Cromwell Avenue at around 8am today, Monday, to tackle the vehicle fire.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire said: "Firefighters attended a van caught fire in a car park at a supermarket in Westbrook, Warrington.

"Crews used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames."

A United Utilities spokesman said: “I can confirm that a United Utilities van caught fire this morning in the car park of the Asda supermarket in Westbrook, Warrington.

"No-one was hurt and no damage was caused to other vehicles during the incident.

"We’re currently in the process of carrying out a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire.”
