WORK on renovating one of the most iconic parts of Walton Hall is set to begin this year.
And before the builders moved in, Warrington Guardian photographer Dave Gillespie got the chance to go behind-the-scenes and take pictures of the old glasshouses.
The project, which is due to be completed and open next year, will see the glasshouses, which have fall into disrepair, used in a partnership with Myerscough College and Walton Lea.
It will also be an open space for visitors while the students, aged 16 to 19, will use the area to study horticulture and animal care in more depth.
The buildings will also be used by the Walton Lea project which helps adults with learning disabilities.
The work has been made possible thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery and Warrington Borough Council.
