THIS was the scene at Bridge Foot last night as high tides threatened flooding across the town.
The Environment Agency had issued a number of flood warnings along the Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington ahead of Storm Eleanor.
Flooding was ‘expected’ at Victoria Park, Eastford Road in Lower Walton, Bank Quay, Fiddlers Ferry, Arpley Bridge and Moore Nature Reserve.
Flood warnings remain in place today at Victoria Park, Fiddlers Ferry and Arpley Bridge while a flood alert is in place along the Mersey running through the town.
High tide is expected between 12.15pm and 2pm today, while further high tides at midnight tonight could cause flooding.
