RESIDENTS have been warned that flooding is ‘expected’ across town with Storm Eleanor set to hit this evening.

The Environment Agency has issued a number of flood warnings along the Mersey in Warrington.

Flooding is likely at Victoria Park – with waterlogging expected to affect its car park, access roads, and footpaths – Eastford Road in Lower Walton, Bank Quay, Fiddlers Ferry, Arpley Bridge and the area around Moore Nature Reserve.

High tide is expected between midnight and 1.30am tonight, with residents warned to take immediate action where necessary.

Further high tides at midday and midnight tomorrow, as well as at midday on Thursday, could cause flooding.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: “Flooding to properties is likely between these times – be aware of your local surroundings and remain safe.

“There may be localised standing water on roads – do not drive through flood water.”

A further flood alert is in place along the whole of the Mersey through the town.
