A VINTAGE bus has been put back into circulation on the town’s roads for a festive treat.

Network Warrington reintroduced the 1960s classic double decker for one time only on the morning of Wednesday, December 20.

The bus took a surprise pre-Christmas tour of Orford as it collected passengers on the Pops route between Poplars Avenue and the town centre.

Ben Wakerley, managing director of Network Warrington, joined passengers on the bus alongside the provider's senior team and chairman Cllr Cathy Mitchell.

He said: “There were a few surprised faces this morning when the heritage bus pulled in to the interchange.

“I wanted to get out and about to speak to passengers but, as a bit of festive fun, we thought it would be nice for our customers to go back in time and travel in vintage style.

“We’ve had a productive year in 2017 – we’ve listened to our customers and have started to transform our network with initiatives like the Pops and our Dallam Discount and we’re looking forward to 2018, where we’ll be making even bigger improvements.

“I’d like to wish all of our passengers a restful Christmas period.”

Graham Carter was one passenger who benefitted from the Christmas treat, boarding the bus at Golden Square Shopping Centre.

He said: “I used to travel on buses like this as a child and haven’t seen a bus quite like this out on the roads for some time – it’s like what my school bus used to be.”
