THE best performing primary schools in Warrington have been revealed after the Government published this year's key stage two SATs results.
The tests, taken by pupils in year six, measure children's reading, writing and maths skills.
League tables published by the Department of Education (DfE) rank schools by the percentage of children reaching the expected standard at end of key stage two in 2017.
Evelyn Street Community Primary School and Stretton St Matthew's CE Primary topped the table for pupils meeting the expected standard in Warrington.
Both schools were graded at 100 per cent in this area followed by Appleton Thorn Primary with 96 per cent in second place and Ravenbank Community Primary in third position with 89 per cent.
It was also noted that 55 per cent of pupils are achieving a higher standard than expected at Evelyn Street Community Primary and is the highest performing school in Warrington in this area.
Jenny Hindley, head teacher, said: "We are delighted that we are the top performing school in Warrington in all areas reported in the primary school league tables.
"In addition Evelyn Street is within the top one per cent of schools nationally and we are third nationally for children achieving at higher levels.
"As always this is as a result of the hard work and dedication of our whole school community and particularly our amazing children."
Hazel Fryman, head teacher of Stretton St Matthew's CE Primary, said she was 'delighted' by the results.
She said: "Children and teaching staff have worked very hard and the 100 per cent at expected standard and significantly high progress scores reflect this.
"We have an amazing school. I’m very lucky to work alongside the most dedicated staff a headteacher could possibly wish for with supportive parents and governors and (best of all) wonderful children.
"Thank you and well done to our whole team."
Linda Buckley, chairman of the governors, added: "The governing body would also like to thank the head teacher and all her staff for their hard work.
"These excellent results are a reflection of the supportive and stimulating nature of the whole school environment. Hazel’s comments are a true reflection of St Matthew’s."
Across England, 61 per cent of around 600,000 11-year-old pupils who sat this year's Sats - or national curriculum tests - achieved the Government's expected standard in comparison to 53 per cent in 2016.
