A FOUR-VEHICLE crash on the Lymm interchange has added to a morning of misery for drivers on the M6 and M56.

Highways England is attending the incident on the northbound carriageway following reports of the crash.

No details of any injuries have been released.

Motorists had already been facing long delays on the M6 northbound after emergency pothole repairs continued on the Thelwall Viaduct until 8.45am.

Two lanes had been closed on the northbound carriageway between junction 20 for the Lymm interchange, and junction 21 for Woolston.

All lanes have since reopened, but congestion is tailing back to junction 19 for Knutsford, with a travel time of around 1 hour 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, an earlier accident eastbound on the M56 between junction 7 at Bowden and 6 for Hale and Wilmslow is causing 15 minutes of delays.

One lane was blocked, but the vehicle involved has since been moved onto the hard shoulder.
