YOUNGSTERS in Padgate are reading all about it after Amazon donated dozens of Kindles to their primary school.

The team at the Amazon warehouse on Omega nominated Brook Acre Community Primary School on Hilden Road to receive 25 of the tablet reading devices for free in addition to a £2,000 gift card.

Staff member Dimitrios Peristerakis led Brook Acre’s nomination as his daughter Anastasia is a pupil at the school.

Dimitrios said: “Brook Acre Community Primary School does a great job increasing the literary skills of our young people and this donation will help even more local kids to enjoy books of all genres.

“It’s great that the team at Amazon in Warrington is able to provide this support to Brook Acre Community Primary School and I know that this donation will be really welcomed by everyone at the school.”

Anastasia added: “I love going to the library, and reading on a Kindle will make it even more fun.

“I am really happy that we will be downloading new books in class, and all of my friends are excited too.”

Brook Acre received the e-reader devices and the £2,000 gift card through Amazon’s Kindle Reading Fund, in which the company’s employees nominate different schools to receive support aiming to encourage their pupils to enjoy reading.

The primary school’s head teacher Jo Holmes said: “It’s our mission to encourage people to read, not only for the educational benefits but also in the context of feeding their imaginations and creativity.

“The gift card and Kindle devices will be really valuable resource at our school and we’re over the moon to receive such great support from the local Amazon team.”

Prajvin Prakash, general manager at Amazon’s Omega warehouse, added: “The staff at Brook Acre Community Primary School do a fantastic job in encouraging more reading among the young people in our community and we hope this donation helps the pupils experience new books while enjoying some old classics.

“The joy of reading is something we’re incredibly passionate about at Amazon and we’re keen to help local children broaden their literary horizons with this donation.”
