CLOSURES will be in place on the M6 again this evening for emergency pothole repairs.

All traffic on the motorway was held between junction 20 at Lymm and junction 21 at Woolston at around 12.15pm today.

Contractors assessed the damage to the northbound carriageway on the Thelwall Viaduct, with the motorway remaining shut for around 15 minutes while a temporary fix was put into place.

But the M6 will experience further closures again after 9pm this evening, Wednesday, for further roadworks to repair a pothole as well as the resurfacing of the motorway.

It is thought that two or three lanes of the northbound carriageway will shut for around an hour.
