A MOTORIST is calling on the public's help to trace those responsible for damaging his cars in a hit and run.

Neil Howard, 43, from Latchford, was shocked to discover the damage that had been caused to his two vehicles which were parked outside his home on Nook Lane on Saturday morning.

Both vehicles – a red and dark green Mini Coopers– now need mechanical work before they can be driven again.

It it believed the incident unfolded at 8.20am.

Witnesses reported seeing a car smash into both vehicle before fleeing from the scene.

He said: "It has been reported to the police but they say there is nothing much they can do about it.

"I have also spoken to a policeman on my street who was there doing something else. He basically told me the same.

"I guess they just don’t have the time and resources to investigate these things.

"They have said that if I find out more, I can let them know and they will look into it."

Neil has been carrying out his own enquiries and is waiting for CCTV from a number of nearby shops.

A number of eye witnesses have also come forward.

He is urging anyone with camera surveillance or dashcam footage in the area to come forward.
