ALL eyes may have been on the competitive debut of cycling legend Sir Bradley Wiggins, but Warrington Rowing Club enjoyed success of their own at the British Rowing Indoor Championships.

Alastair Eaves, competing as an under 23 lightweight, won silver in the 500m sprint and bronze in the 2000m race.

Eaves was competing against older athletes in the longer of his two races but a total time of 6mins 33.3secs was enough to secure him a medal.

He went one better in the sprint race, completing the distance in 1min 25.7secs to scoop silver behind Molesley Boat Club’s Ashley Cowley.

Connor Guerin was the other Warrington Rowing Club representative at Lee Valley VeloPark, competing in the sixth form boy’s 2000m event.

Sadly, despite leading for part of the race, Guerin was edged out of the medal positions as his time of 6mins 23.3secs was good enough for fourth place.
