WARRINGTON Market's Foodie Thirstday event has been cancelled due to Storm Caroline.

Street food, real ale and Prosecco was due to be served tonight, Thursday, outside in the market's forecourt with live entertainment as part of late night shopping.

But there are concerns about safety with high gusts of wind expected.

Paul Blaney, event organiser said: “We held on until the last minute hoping the high winds and gusts would subside, but unfortunately it has not and we have taken the decision to cancel this evening's second Foodie Thirstday.

"Hosting a street market in these conditions is potentially dangerous and the health and safety of our staff, traders and customer is always our priority.

"We will be back next Thursday from 5pm with another great selection of the region’s best foodie vendors and some great live music."

The indoor market will remain open until 8pm with more than 50 traders and plenty of hot food options inside the food court.

Liverpool Cheese Company's Cheese School will also still run from 6pm and is bookable at their stall.

Paul added: "We’ll also have kids craft workshops in the food court and a visit from Elsa from Disney favourite, Frozen."

Three hours free parking is available in the new multi storey car park on Academy Way by validating your ticket at the market.
