PLANS to build seven new apartments on piece of spare land in Penketh have been submitted.

The bid would see the homes built on the vacant land on the busy corner of Stocks Lane, near St Paul's Church.

An application was granted to build two apartments and three shop units on the land back in 2012 but permission has now lapsed.

Now developers want to construct the building which will house three one-bedroom and four two-bedroom flats.

The application says: "The building has been designed to replicate some of the features and style of the adjacent dwellings. For example, the use of stone sills and heads."

Residents complained about the scheme for the land in 2012 and for earlier proposals for a car wash.

Unhappy homeowners expressed fears the corner was already hazardous and congested, with few parking spaces, and three shops would only make traffic and parking problems worse.
