COUNCILLORS are set to agree a contract for work to further pedestrianise the Cultural Quarter when they meet on Monday.
As previously reported in the Warrington Guardian, the move is part of a 'masterplan' to improve the town centre.
Members of the council's executive board will meet at 6.30pm in the Town Hall to agree a contractor for the £664,000 work.
It will see the southern section of Springfield Street become changed to a shared-used area along the side of Queen's Gardens between Palmyra Square North and South.
When approved, work would start in the new year.
Long term bosses want to link the area to Bridge Street via the revamped Cabinet Works site.
The proposals include an increase in on-street parking in the area and lengthening of the duration of stay.
