A SUPERMARKET has donated more than £20,000 to a charity that supports children affected by bereavement.
Morrisons on Wilderspool Causeway has given a total of £22,400 to Child Bereavement UK, which helps children who have been bereaved as well as families who have suffered the loss of a child.
Seb Farrell, fundraising officer for Child Bereavement UK, said: “This is a phenomenal donation which will go a long way to helping us support even more bereaved families in the north of England.
“Some of the money will go towards training teachers in a survey commissioned by Child Bereavement UK, 80 per cent told us they’d had no bereavement training despite the fact that one in 29 school children have been bereaved of a parent or sibling – that’s a child in every class.”
Sharon Potts from the Morrisons Foundation added: “We were delighted to present this cheque to a charity which supports people in our community.”
