AN ARMED robber who left a shopkeeper ‘fearing for his life’ after threatening him with a meat cleaver has been jailed.
Stephen Brown, from Fairfield, was jailed for four-and-a-half after admitting robbery and possession of an offensive weapon at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, November 21.
Brown, of Harrison Close, entered C&S Stores on Bridgewater Avenue in Latchford shortly after 7am on Wednesday, October 18.
The 30-year-old threatened the shopkeeper with a meat cleaver and made off with the contents of the till.
Following the sentencing by his honour judge Patrick Thompson, detective constable Rob Massey said: “This was a shocking crime targeting a family-run business.
“Brown left the shopkeeper fearing for his life – now he is facing years behind bars for his crimes.”
