NEW plans to build a GP surgery in Chapelford are expected to be given the green light next week.
Outline planning permission for a medical centre on land adjacent to the Sainsbury’s supermarket and Dakota Park was granted back in 2002 as part of the original application for the Chapelford development on the site of the RAF Burtonwood airbase.
But planning consent was granted on the condition that work began by May 2017, meaning that approval has now expired as no building work has yet started.
Chapelford Medical Centre has been operating out of a portacabin for more than 10 years while approval and funding for a permanent surgery was sought.
NHS Property Services has since submitted a new application to the GP surgery and a pharmacy plus 31 new car parking spaces.
Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee will meet on Wednesday, November 29, to decide on whether to approve the application.
Councillors have been recommended to pass the scheme.
