A PROFESSIONAL footballer netted two goals before being substituted mid-game in order to rush off to be by his partner’s side as she gave birth at Warrington Hospital last night, Tuesday.
Wigan Athletic winger Ryan Colclough scored a brace as his side beat Doncaster Rovers 3-0 in a League One clash at the DW Stadium.
But the 22-year-old’s eventful night did not end there, as he was substituted on the hour mark after receiving the news that his partner’s waters had broken.
Colclough arrived at Warrington Hospital 30 minutes before his second son was born weighing 8lb6.

Wigan Athletic chairman David Sharpe Tweeted his congratulations to Colclough alongside a picture of the new dad cradling his son – still wearing his full Latics kit.
He said: “Congratulations to Ryan Colclough, who scored a brace tonight before being substituted to make it in time to see the birth of his son.”
