MARTIAL artists from Warrington were among the winners at an international event.

Lucy Arnold, Anna Mai Larkin and Luke Baguley achieved top-three placings in the annual Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Schools International Championships in Swindon.

The trio, from the Sankey school, fought alongside more than 500 competitors from England, Scotland and Australia.

Lucy achieved first place in 13 to 15-year-old girls' sparring.

Not only did Anna collect silver in individual forms, she was third in 10 to 11-year-old girls' sparring.

Luke registered third spot in four to six-year-old' kick-boxing drills.

Other students taking part were Sam Ross, Cath Baguley, Nathan Heywood, Amy Dobie, Emma Garth, Sam Arnold, Harry Arnold, Charlotte Geoghegan, Zack Rutter, Cody Rutter and Rachel Williams.

Chief instructor Steve James said: “The team have been working hard with the students to get them to be the best they can be and I am so proud of all who took part."
