A MUM-of-two who shed nearly four stone in just nine months said she was inspired to get healthy by her family.

Caroline Warburton, 28, said the death of her grandma was the wake-up call she needed to take control of her health and emotional wellbeing.

The former Culcheth High School student signed up for Slimming World when she hit 12st 6lbs.

She said: “I really didn’t feel I could be as good a mum to my children because I didn’t have any confidence.

“I thought I was destined to be big forever. My confidence and self-esteem had hit an all-time low and was affecting my social life.

“I made up excuses with friends so I didn’t have to go out. I would get so distressed trying to find an outfit to cover my figure and that I felt comfortable in that, in the end, it was easier to stay at home.”

But nine months after beginning her journey, Caroline reached her goal weight of 8st 10lbs. She said the key to her success has been the support of other people going through the same problems.

She has also discovered a new love of cooking and launched her own slimming group in Hood Manor to share her experiences.

“Support is really the most important thing. It all starts with feeling that you’re not alone. I know the challenges people face.

“It’s a privilege for me to be able to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me. Not only have I got my confidence back, I also feel good in the knowledge that I am setting a good example to my children.”

The group meets at St James’ Church on Canons Road every Monday at 7pm.
