CHESHIRE Constabulary has hosted this year’s annual National Black Police Association (NBPA) conference.

The meeting was a celebration of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) representation in policing and saw delegates from across the country come together.

The conference took place during Hate Crime Awareness Week with the aim of exploring the dynamics of hate crime in post-Brexit Britain.

The purpose of the conference was to identify and offer constructive solutions from a BAME perspective and encourage positive conversation on race hate within the community, policing hate crime, and the influence Brexit has had on the BAME communities and workforce.

The two-day long event at Chester Town Hall also included an informal march in uniform.

ACC Janette McCormick said: “The challenge faced by all forces is to ensure the police service is reflective of its communities, they are confident in the decisions we take, and feel they truly have a stake in how we police the county.

"The conference allowed us to develop positive conversations and identify and offer constructive solutions."
