I AM writing regard Boteler Grammar School (Warrington Guardian, September 21).

My three sons, Kelvyn, Erle and Carl Gardner, were all lucky enough to pass the 11-plus exam and so become pupils of Boteler Grammar School.

There they all received a splendid education which enabled them all to go on to successful careers.

Their memories of the school, and the masters, are all happy ones.

Friendships that they made there are still flourishing.

As a parent I also have happy memories of the school, and together with my sons have great gratitude for the education that they received there and for the values that the masters instilled in them.

It is a pity that Boteler, as it was, no longer exists.

But without doubt, we are sure that some of the ethos of the old school still exists in the school as it is now.
