RE my letter about Walton Hall golf (Warrington Guardian, October 12).

This is just a follow up because I was given false information to play at Walton on Sunday morning.

Nothing had changed, the course is not fit to play golf on and unsuspecting people were again lured on to the course to play.

The members were informed that to play friendly golf the cost would be £10 and and to play in the normal competition this would be £17.50.

I have spent two hours on the phone this morning trying to reach the people responsible for this travesty of players’ rights.

The council website does not advertise the cost of golf, crazy golf in the park yes.

The Walton Hall website indicates a team, the pro and retail manager.

These people point you in the direction of the council, who will be answerable for the misery caused?

What is happening at Walton?

Winter rates should be down to course conditions and not the date.

The members spend a considerable amount of money preseason, upgrading computer systems, names on trophies/ boards, affiliation costs.

The question is what is happening? Is the council running the golf course down to sell the back nine off ?

Why don’t they sustain good links with societies to encourage their return?

The work being carried out to the hall and gardens is having a derogatory effect on the facilities the golfers endure. Yes the course is the best in the area, but the toilets, showers, café areas are the worst for miles.

Council bosses don’t seem to look further than the end of their noses.

I have now spoken to the council and a meeting is planned for Thursday. Let’s hope bureaucracy sees a way to agree.
