FOUR people have been charged after detectives launched an investigation into a cocaine and heroin drugs ring.

Two men were detained on Tuesday after officers stopped a vehicle on the M62 between junction seven at Winwick and nine at St Helens.

The car was pulled over as it travelled from Liverpool to Warrington at 8.10pm.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and driving without insurance.

Police have since confirmed that Alan Bell, 31, from Liverpool, has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and driving while disqualified.

Raymond Johnson, 46, from Liverpool, has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, producing class B drugs namely cannabis, driving without a licence and no insurance.

As part of the police probe, officers also raided a house on Tulsa Gardens in Chapelford on Wednesday morning.

A 39-year-old woman and 44-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs and theft of a coffee machine.

Paula Perkins, 39, of Tulsa Gardens, Great Sankey, has since been charged with two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

David Thomason, 44, of Grasmere Avenue, Orford, has been charged with burglary and two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

A quantity of drugs were uncovered at the property following the raid at 11.45am.

Two more warrants were carried out on Buckingham Road and Diana Street in Liverpool.

Drug paraphernalia was discovered at the properties and a cannabis grow was found at the property in Diana Street.

All four suspects are expected to appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court today, Thursday.
