A LABOUR politician was given a makeover on E4's Body Fixers to help him 'all the way to Number 10'.

Poulton with Fearnhead parish councillor Josh Booth, 20, appeared on the show's season finale last Thursday after he was contacted through social media.

Viewers watched on as the Fairfield resident was told the makeover will help him 'all the way to Number 10' after it was suggested that his 'unruly hair' has been holding him back in his political career.

But, despite the suggestions from the Body Fixers team, Josh has played down his chances of toppling Theresa May to win the keys to 10 Downing Street anytime soon.

He said: "I was contacted on Twitter by someone from the show – they always look for people from varied backgrounds to appear on the show and asked me to come on as a politician.

"I'd never call myself a politician, but oh well.

"Honestly, the main reason I agreed is because I seriously needed a haircut.

"They offered to put me in a hotel in London overnight, as well as to give me a free haircut and beard trim – how could I refuse?

"During the filming, I had my long hair cut fairly short and had my beard trimmed so it was short and neat.

"They also neatened up my fingernails, which had become quite worn from years of biting them.

"I can't imagine myself ever really trying to be Prime Minister – it's far too much responsibility.

"But I could definitely see myself standing for other elected roles in the future, though, and being presentable might help with that."

However, Josh admits that he did get a slight shock after looking in the mirror following the transformation.

He added: "I'll admit that they did cut the hair a little shorter than I was hoping but I grew it more into the style I was hoping for over the following months.

"I think keeping myself looking smart will definitely make a few more people open to listening to my thoughts and ideas.

"That said, I'd like to think that most people can look beyond appearances and judge political activists like myself on their policies, not their looks."
