A DOCTOR's surgery in Orford has been ordered to improve following an inspection by the healthcare regulator.

Park View Medical Practice, which is based at Orford Jubilee Hub, has been told the improve by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection April.

The medical centre had earlier been told to improve following a previous inspection in February 2016 and the CQC found that improvements had been made, although further progress was required.

However safety at Park View Medical Practice, which serves 5,837 patients, was found to have worsened and was rated as inadequate by inspectors after continued breaches of health and social care regulations were found.

Staff had not always recognised significant events, which were not investigated or responded to.

A majority of patients said they were treated 'with care and concern', but a number were 'not complimentary' about their experiences of consultations with GPs.

The CQC ordered the surgery to ensure its staff were provided with update to date training in order to 'support them in their roles and responsibilities.

Park View Medical Practice was also told it should review staffing levels to ensure there were 'sufficient numbers of staff to support the running of the service'.

Glenn Coleman, head of primary care for NHS in Cheshire and Merseyside, said: "Local NHS commissioners are working closely with Park View Medical Practice to put an action plan in place to address areas where improvements need to be made.

"We are pleased with the progress that has been made since the practice was first inspected in February 2016, but acknowledge that there is still some work to be done.

"We will continue to offer support to the practice and will review and monitor its development.

"We would like to assure patients of our commitment to commissioning the highest quality, safe care for everyone."
