THE town’s top secondary schools have been revealed based on GCSE results.

And the rankings look very different to last year’s performance tables.

While King’s Leadership Academy - which had just 43 GCSE students this year - topped the list, St Gregory’s Catholic High was named as the school where the highest number of pupils improved their grades.

In last year's ratings St Gregory’s came in at 11th place.

The schools were ranked by the government’s new provisional progress 8 scores, which measure how much progress pupils have made between their year 6 SATs and their GCSES in year 10.
