A HOLISTIC therapist who turned to reflexology to improve her health has opened her own business to help others.

Rebecca Sherratt, of Dickinson Street, is now the proud owner of Balanced Soles Reflexology and Massage on Orchard Street after working as a dental nurse for 11 years.

But it has not been an easy journey for the businesswoman after struggling with her mental health due to chronic pain and fatigue.

The 30-year-old said: "The business promotes wellbeing and health with reflexology and massage.

"I suffer from a chronic disease. I turned to reflexology to help me as I was suicidal and in pain and constantly tired.

"It massively improved my health and I decided to learn all things holistic so I could help people like me who were suffering from depression, anxiety and chronic pain.

"I went to college and worked full time. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to be able to help people."

After making the 'leap of faith' to become a therapist, Rebecca, who is a qualified reflexology practitioner, has managed to support many people facing similar struggles.

"I currently help people with illnesses and children with special needs teaching them the relaxation routine that helps them to relax and cope better with stress," said the former Woolston High School pupil.

"Reflexology is my ultimate passion. I feel this is a brilliant treatment for anybody - even if you're just suffering from stress or just need a hour to relax and re-charge."

And her work has not gone unrecognised as the businesswoman has already been shortlisted in the Holistic Magazine Business Awards.
