IN Tony Smith’s final game in charge, Wolves gave him a fitting send-off with an eventually comfortable victory over Hull Kingston Rovers.

Andre Savelio, who is departing for Brisbane Broncos, and Ben Pomeroy both scored twice as The Wire recovered a 14-point deficit to take victory.

Stefan Ratchford, Brad Dwyer, Peta Hiku, Ben Currie and Harvey Livett also crossed for Wolves, while Kurt Gidley kicked a goal on his final career appearance.

Will Oakes and Ryan Shaw both crossed twice for the visitors, who will join Wolves in Super League next year.

Rovers, who have also secured a place in Super League for next year, got off to the perfect start when a sweeping left-edge move put Oakes over in the corner after Wolves were caught short.

The first half was punctuated by errors on both sides, but Pomeroy should impressive skills to keep hold of the ball and ground under pressure to get the hosts on the board after a nice runaround move involving Ratchford and Kevin Brown.

However, it was the visitors who seized the momentum and hit Wolves with back-to-back tries.

After a kick was deflected into his path, Chris Clarkson streaked through and kicked ahead for Shaw to win the race and touch down.

Just minutes later, Maurice Blair burst through a weak tackle from Harvey Livett and sent Shaw over again.

Wolves showed signs of life after the introduction of Savelio, Dwyer, Joe Philbin and Benjamin Jullien from the bench.

First, Ratchford soared high to collect Brown’s cross-field kick and touch down before Dwyer marked a good first-half stint with a trademark race through from dummy-half.

Savelio grabbed his first try by running a perfect line to give Wolves a lead they would not relinquish before Jack Hughes and Rovers’ Maurice Blair were sin-binned for fighting.

Pomeroy doubled his tally by burrowing over from Hiku’s offload before Oakes crossed to bring Rovers back to within two points of the lead.

However, that was as good as it got for Tim Sheens’ side as Wolves stretched away late on.

Savelio scored a carbon copy of his first try to give Warrington a two-score lead and Hiku brushed off some tired defence to cross for the eighth game in a row.

Currie flew over from a Gidley short pass before turning provider with an outrageous pass to send Livett over and put the seal on the win.
