SARAH Ward, author of the DC Childs crime series, will visit two libraries in Warrington next month.

Her appearance at Lymm and Woolston libraries on Wednesday, October 4, will mark the release of her latest novel, A Patient Fury.

Sarah will give readers an exclusive insight into the deadly fire that inspired the novel, as well as talking about the mysteries of the Derbyshire Perk District – where her first two novels, A Deadly Thaw, and In Bitter Chill, are set.

She will also talk about the popularity of crime novels and what attracts us to the darkest deeds.

Sarah has been a fan of crime thrillers since she was a child.

She reviews crime fiction novels for a number of publications and is a judge for The Petrona Award for the best Scandinavian crime novel.

Sarah has also had short stories published in the likes of the Sunday Express magazine, Metro and Big Issue.

She said: “Crime fiction is in my blood.

“From Enid Blyton’s The Famous Five to Carolyn Keene’s Nancy Drew, I was reading the genre at an early age.

“In my teens it was Agatha Christie followed by Ruth Rendell and PD James.

“Later influences include Sara Paretsky, Sue Grafton, Minette Walters.

“Then I discovered Scandinavian crime writers.”

To coincide with her visit to Warrington, Sarah’s novel, A Deadly Thaw, will feature as LiveWire’s book of the month later this year.

Tickets for both author talks are priced at £2 and are available from any of Warrington’s libraries.

There are limited tickets for the event, so booking early is advised.
