A POPULAR takeaway has been honoured at a national prizegiving.

Bhaji Fresh on Knutsford Road was named north west winner at the English Curry Awards after receiving praise from customers for its food.

The team picked up their prize at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.

Owner Abdul Malik said: “We work hard to deliver on quality and customer satisfaction in our business and all the effort has paid off.

"Thanks to all our customers for their continued support – this award is down to them.”

The curry house, which opened in 2011, also caters for vegans and is particularly proud of its signature dishes 'mish delight' and 'pili pili'.

But if you prefer something a little less exotic, the restaurant also serves up burgers, kebabs and wraps.

Irfan Younis, chief executive of awards organiser Oceanic Consulting, said: “These were the seventh annual English Curry Awards.

"They are a true reflection of the talent in England and we want to make sure that the hard work and determination of English curry professionals doesn’t go unnoticed.

“We are honoured and delighted to have such great finalists and winners representing the English curry industry and enhancing its reputation nationally and internationally.”
