ROVERS’ under 13s have had help from some star names as they prepare for a cup final on Sunday.

Warrington Wolves stars Ashton Sims and Jack Hughes stopped by training to help the team prepare for their North West Counties Shield final against Wigan St Patricks at Golborne Parkside.

The Wire duo, who are community club ambassadors for Rovers, put the team through their paces in preparation for their clash with a team from the division above.

“To have Ashton and Jack give up their own time to come down to our training last week meant an awful lot to the lads and they were buzzing when they saw them,” said Lyndsay Darbyshire, the team’s manager.

“It has really given them an extra lift and we cannot thank them enough for their help, it is greatly appreciated.

“The lads have been superb all season and thoroughly deserve to be in the Final “The work that the coaches, Darren Geritas, Mark Wareing and Phil Shovelton have done with the boys has been great and they have listened and then gone out onto the field and put into practice what they have been told.”

The club’s under 14s are also in cup final action as they take on Folly Lane in the North West Counties Plate final at Thatto Heath on Saturday.

“The lads are really looking forward to playing in a final,” team manager Steve Price said.

“The way that they have moved forward this year has been amazing and we are all looking forward to the game.”
