PLANS for a beauty salon to become a cafe and flower shop have been given the green light despite complaints from neighbours that the scheme will cause parking problems.

House of Naural Beauty, next door to The Pit Smokehouse on Warrington Road in Culcheth, is set to be converted to a coffee shop serving cold food and some warmed up meals, such as pies and soups, with a small flower shop in the back of the premises.

Opening hours will be between 8am and 6pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays, and the council has said the impact on residents living above the shop will be minimal.

The site has two allocated parking spaces and will share a further three bays with other stores on the row.

But neighbours have complained that the plans will make parking problems in the area even worse.

One resident said: “Parking is a real challenge and problem at the moment with The Pit Smokehouse.

“I have to keep phoning up the smokehouse to get the cars moved that park at the back of where I live.”

Parish councillors Keith and Sue Bland also objected to the proposals, arguing the cafe could lead to ‘inappropriate restaurant development’.

They added that nearby Le Brunch sandwich bar was refused similar planning permission and no other businesses on the row are open on Sundays except for the smokehouse.

But councillors on the development management committee approved the plans at a meeting last Wednesday, September 20.
