WARRINGTON South MP Faisal Rashid has given his backing to Lymm Rugby Club at its first game of the season.
Lymm beat Billingham in front of a large crowd of spectators on Saturday.
Mr Rashid said: "Lymm Rugby Club is a very impressive community amateur sports club.
"I was amazed to learn that more than 450 children and young people are regularly involved in playing rugby here and that the senior first team plays at such a high level in the Northern Premier League.
"The plans for the new clubhouse and playing developments will produce facilities of tremendous benefit to the Lymm community and I offer my full support to the future of the club."
Club president David Newton added: "It is great to have such a successful opening game of the season.
"Faisal has seen first-hand the exciting developments here and it has been our pleasure to have him as our guest."
