DO you like to sing? If so, come and join Gemini’s ‘crew’ on Sunday, September 17, when HMS Pinafore sets sail from The Old School in Fairfield Street.

Gemini Musical Theatre Company, originally Warrington Light Opera, has been presenting concerts and shows in the Warrington area for more than 40 years.

For the group’s latest event they will give budding singers the opportunity to learn the choruses from one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best known operettas, HMS Pinafore.

The performance will take place the same evening, providing audiences with a taste of nautical magic.

HMS Pinafore or ‘The Lass that Loved a Sailor’ was Gilbert and Sullivan’s’ first big hit and pokes gentle fun at the British class system of the time, patriotism and the Royal Navy.

Danny Shaw, chairman of Gemini, said: “We have presented similar one day ‘from scratch’ events before and have always had great fun on the day.

“It doesn’t matter if you know the piece well. There will be an opportunity to participate in a workshop in the afternoon and you will get a great welcome and lots of support from our musical director and existing members.

“Just turn up on the day and join in. However, if you prefer to just come along and enjoy the performance later in the evening, rather than to sing, we’ll look forward to entertaining you”.

n HMS Pinafore ‘from scratch’ will take place at the Old School in Fairfield Street on Sunday, September 17, from 1pm to 5pm followed by a performance at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5. Visit geminmusicaltheatre.com or call 601773
