THE iconic ‘Pink Eye’ building has been put up for sale.

Fairclough Mill in Sankey Bridges, more commonly known at the Pink Eye building, has been put on the market.

Artist Tony Turk painted a mural of a pink eye on the side of the 110ft high former flour mill in 1999.

The Pink Eye, on Athertons Quay, yields rent of more than £30,000 per year with its six workshops on the ground floor, two large advertisement hoardings and a telecommunications mast on the roof.

Estate agents Ashtons describe the property as ‘offering a tremendous opportunity’.

Commercial manager described the space above the ground-floor workshops as a ‘cereal packet-like void’.
