THINKING about buying your first home in Warrington?

According to a new site, it may prove rather difficult if you're not earning more than the minimum wage.

Figures found WA2 was the cheapest postcode to buy a property with buyers required to earn £9.34 an hour or £18,213 a year. 

According to figures published by web-blinds.com, the most expensive postcode in Warrington is Lymm where buyers have to earn £23.68 an hour or £46,176 a year. 

The most and least affordable postcodes in Warrington:

WA1 - Town centre, Woolston, Bruche - £11.51 per hour, £22,444.50 a year

WA2 - Orford, Longford, Dallam, Padgate, Fearnhead - £9.34 per hour, £18,213 a year

WA3 - Birchwood, Rixton with Glazebrook, Culcheth - £13.22 an hour, £25,779 a year

WA4 - Latchford, Stockton Heath, Appleton, Grappenhall, Daresbury, Moore, Walton - £17.79 per hour, £34,690.50

WA5 -  Burtonwood, Westbrook, Penketh, Great Sankey - £12.39 an hour, £24,160.50 a year

WA13 - Lymm - £23.68 an hour or £46,176 a year

The most affordable postcode in the country was in Middlesbrough where buyers only have to earn £2.15 an hour while the top 10 most expensive were all in London ranging from earnings of £143.97 an hour up to £186.66 per hour.  

The figures are based on a single person working a 37.5 hour week and spending 35% of their income on mortgage repayments - the amount the Shelter charity defines as affordable - and take into account average house prices in an area, assuming a 20 per cent deposit and a 25-year fixed rate mortgage at 2.63 per cent interest.
