A FAMILY united to climb Mount Snowdon to help leukaemia patients as they face the fight of their lives.

Billie-jo Cooper, of Morley Street, called on her family including mum Keri Cooper, 44, cousin Molly Cooper, 10, and auntie Tammy Cooper, 45, to complete the charity trek after witnessing her friend’s ‘inspiring’ cancer battle.

The 26-year-old, who runs a clinic on Manchester Road, was inspired by her friend Nicola Byrnes who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2015.

Her husband Patrick has been by her side every step of the way.

“It’s safe to say the road has and is a rocky one at times for Nicola, Patrick and their family and friends,” said Billie-jo.

“But I have never met two more driven and down-to-Earth people

“They have been truly unbelievable, brave and courageous and I’m so proud to call them my friends.

“Completing the climb I know will not be a scratch on the mountains they are conquering together, but please show your support for an inspirational woman.”

The first six months following the diagnosis were a difficult time for the couple as Nicola was having chemotherapy to get her into remission so she could receive a stem cell transplant.

After months of fighting for her life, Nicola was given the news she was hoping for – the search to find a donor had uncovered a match and a man from Germany had donated his stem cells to give Nicola a new immune system.

All money raised will be donated DKMS – we delete blood cancer.
