A FRIEND of a mum who lost her family's passports 48 hours before her children's first holiday has called on the public to help make their dreams come true.

Panicked mum Sophie Edwards, from Latchford, issued a desperate plea for help yesterday, Thursday, after losing her purse which contained the three passports on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old was looking forward to jetting out to Cyprus at 2.45pm today, Friday, with her children 12-year-old Miles and five-year-old Darci but their hopes are now starting to dwindle.

But friend Katie Bradshaw has set up a fundraising page to make sure the family don't miss out on their holiday.

Posting on the fundraising page, she said: "Sophie is a well-loved wonderful mum.

"She works hard as a single parent to give the children what they need.

"There is no way they can fly without sorting out emergency passports and the airline says she will have to pay for a new passports, etc

"As the items were reported as missing and not stolen, Sophie is unable to apply for a one-day premium passport service.

"If we all have one or two less drinks this weekend and raise some money to make sure these kids get the holiday they deserve I'm sure the world would be a better place. Dig deep!"

Easy Jet has also agreed to send Sophie vouchers for the cost of the flights.

Sophie, who works for her brother's business Bold Street Tattoo, has been frantically searching for the property since she made the discovery yesterday, Thursday.

She said: "I asked my daughter to get my purse and that's when I realised it wasn't in the house.

"I have turned every room upside down and I have emptied every bag.

"It's their first holiday.

"It's horrendous. I can't believe it."

The mum-of-two travelled to the town centre on Wednesday to change some money into Euros and run some last-minute errands ahead of the holiday.

Sophie then returned to her home on Grange Avenue in a taxi from an independent company at around 4.15pm.

The 30-year-old managed to hail down a taxi near to Warrington Bus Station so she does not have any details for the driver.

Sophie opened her purse to pay for her taxi fare – this is the last time she remembers having her purse.

Despite frantically retracing her steps, calling multiple taxi firms in the area, the council and alerting the police, the missing property has not been located.

As the items were reported as missing and not stolen, Sophie is unable to apply for a one-day premium service for new passports.

The fabric purse is green with embroidered flowers and contains Sophie's and her two children's passports.

A total of €850 and £60 is also missing as well as the family's boarding passes, insurance documents and a birth certificate.

"I couldn't stop crying yesterday but I'm still hopeful," she said.

"I felt like I just wanted to give up last night.

"I just can't believe how clumsy I have been.

"I deal with important documents all the time at work. I'm really OCD."
