A MAN has been charged with a string of offences after a biker mounted the kerb and collided with a group of people and hit a pram.

The 27-year-old suspect was taken into police custody after officers were called to reports of a crash on Kingsway South at 3.30pm on Wednesday near to the junction of Powell Street.

After the collision an altercation broke out between the group of people and the rider of the bike.

Police say the child was uninjured and there were no reports of any serious injuries to the group of pedestrians. 

The rider of the motorbike sustained injuries to his leg.

He was taken to Warrington Hospital but he has since been questioned by detectives.

The suspect has now been charged with two counts of assault by beating, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. 

He is expected to appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court on September 6.
