FIRE crews rescued a dog from the Mersey yesterday afternoon.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Paddington Meadows shortly before 5pm yesterday, Wednesday, after Plumrose, a 17-month-old Labrador, became stranded in the river.
Plumrose had entered the water for a swim but was unable to get out of the river because the embankment was too steep.
Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene, with crews using water gear and a ladder to reach the dog and get him back on to dry land.
