SUPER slimmers on Livewire's latest fitness programme have shed more than 55 stone between them.

The 40 men and women on the Warrington Wolves' Fit to Tackle scheme spent 12 weeks being put through their paces.

The course includes rugby themed activities, sessions at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and nutritional advice.

At least 35 of the dedicated participants have lost more than five per cent of their body weight.

They also drastically improved their fitness, with everyone running a half mile race at least a minute faster after completing the programme.

One of the most popular aspects of the course is a session with mental health sports charity State of Mind, which tackles the psychological side of weight loss and fitness.

Coach Paul Corless said: “We’ve seen an incredible weight loss on this Fit to Tackle programme.

“The participants worked amazingly hard to reach their targets and really enjoyed all of the activities provided.

“We’ve seen so many people on this programme work closely together as a team and make long-lasting friendships with people who were strangers 12 weeks ago.

“The other coaches, Tom, Matt, Rachel and I are really proud of what they’ve achieved.

“Hopefully they’ve now got all the skills necessary to lead a happy and healthy lifestyles.”
